American Pest Talks Bed Bugs

02/15/2011

News

W. Wayne White, board certified entomologist and Director of Technical Services for American Pest, has been spreading the word about bed bugs.

White attended the Second National Bed Bug Summit from February 1st-2nd, organized by the EPA. The event was held at the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center.

He then appeared on C-Span on February 3rd, 2011 for a 40 minute segment with senior executive producer Peter Slen about the Federal Government’s response to the rise in bed bug infestations in the United States, including the Summit.  White had a question and answer period with Slen, and then accepted calls from live viewers. Check out the video from the segment here.

Later that night, WBAL featured White in an interview with the I-Team’s Deborah Weiner to discuss the recent uprising of bed bugs in the past few years. The investigation continued with a surprise inspection of several Baltimore City hotels with American Pest’s K9 Bed Bug Detection Team, K-9 Handler Krystal Rackley and Gizmo, the Bed Bug Dog. The hotels were chosen based on reports from the Bed Bug Registry, an online database of consumer-reported bed bug infestations. Fortunately, no bed bugs were found during any of the inspections.

American Pest is pleased with Wayne, Krystal, and Gizmo for their news appearances, and for educating the public about bed bugs.
