Residents of Fulton, MD had their first taste of American Pest’s “pink ribbon” cupcakes during the Fourth Annual Pink Night charity event benefiting breast cancer awareness. A bra stretch down Maple Lawn Boulevard—the unique creation of Bra-La-La’s Mary Jordan—kicked off the Oct. 14th event. Joining fellow businesses from the Maple Lawn community, American Pest employees rallied to show their support by giving away over a hundred home-baked cupcakes, pink ribbons, and survivor bracelets.
“Breast cancer is a deeply personal disease that touches the lives of many in our community,” said Miranda Sherman, Marketing and Advertising Manager. “American Pest is affected by issues that hit so close to home and we’re proud to gather with the residents and business owner’s of Maple Lawn so that we, too, can make a hopeful impact.”
Marilyn Ehm, Residential Administrative Assistant, was excited to be involved with her first breast cancer awareness event as an American Pest employee.
“I was really excited to represent American Pest and support such an important issue,” said Dixon. “People were eating our cupcakes and asking questions about pests, and then we gave them goodie bags with the pink bed bugs to take home. Everyone had a lot of fun!”
Proceeds from the event were donated to Survivors Offering Support, a unique program operated by Howard County General Hospital, which pairs newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with survivors that experienced a similar diagnosis. American Pest is looking forward to participating in Pink Night again next year and watching the event expand.
