Three American Pest associates attended the DC Department of Health’s Second Annual Bed Bug Summit, titled “Bed Bugs Are Changing Our World,” on January 20th, 2011.

W. Wayne White, Director of Technical Services, Kevin Poland, Event Marketing Specialist, and Randy Levine, Web & Social Media Coordinator, were in attendance.

“The Summit was a much needed opportunity for stakeholders of this very pressing and difficult issue to share research and propose solutions to eradicate this pest,” said White.

District residents were given the opportunity to ask questions and get information about bed bugs. Topics covered included bed bug physiology, benefits and limitations of bed bug control practices, and the range of responses to the bed bug epidemic from tenant associations, the District, and the Federal government.

Speakers for the event included entomologist and keynote speaker Larry Pinto, Silvia Salazar, Co-President of the Norwood Tenant Association in DC, and renowned entomologist Dr. Harold Harlan. Representatives from the EPA, District Department of the Environment, and the pest management industry were also featured.
