Every year we can expect one thing to happen on New Year's Eve, fireworks erupt around the entire Earth. As night falls, the sky fills with sparkling flashes of light to usher in the beginning of a new year. It is a tradition that has been embraced by almost every culture on the planet. Why do you think that is? What is it about the new year that causes people to want to make a big deal out of it? Underneath all of the revelry, behind all the fireworks, and in the silence where no noisemaker can reach, there is a belief that seems to drive this celebratory spirit. It is a belief that the new year can offer a fresh start. Some call it a rebirth. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the new year can come alive with new possibilities!
There is no way to have a fresher start than to start living a pest-free life. No, seriously! Most of us don't really understand how much bugs and wildlife affect us until it is too late. And sometimes, even then, we don't realize it. Here are some examples.
Obvious
If you tear out a wall to do some much-needed remodeling and find hundreds of pale yellow insects crawling around in there, you're going to instantly feel the horror. You're not likely to miss that you have a serious termite problem. But until that moment arrives, you might be tempted to think that termites only happen to other people. This is an example of a way you'll obviously realize that pests were a problem.
If a skunk decides to live under your porch where the exhaust for your dryer pushes warm air out, it won't take long for you to realize that this is a problem that would have been better to avoid.
Not So Obvious
It isn't always easy to figure out what is making you sick. If you come down with the flu, it might not be the flu at all. When bugs and rodents crawl around in your home, they can spread harmful bacteria to your counters, shelves, dishes, silverware, and food products. This bacteria can produce flu-like symptoms that you and your family can probably live without.
Bugs can also spread strange and difficult-to-diagnose diseases. Diseases that come with symptoms like chronic fatigue, joint pain, rashes, skin discomfort, headaches, and muscle pain; heart disease complications; brain and nervous system issues; and so much more. These often go undiagnosed for years.
Make your new year the year you make a fresh start. Get year-round pest services and vital protection that will keep your home, and everyone in it, safer.
Happy new years from all of us here at American Pest! We can't wait to serve you in the new year!
