Mosquitoes are a such a menace. They are all but impossible to prevent. They breed constantly and are found in nearly all standing water. They are just about everywhere on the globe and are perfect vessels to carry virus’ and illness from place to place.
These biting nuisances have been known to carry and spread many diseases. Here are a few that originate with mosquito bites:

Yellow Fever
And most recently, Chikungunya Fever. Up until 2013 this virus had been reported in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In 2013 it was confirmed in the islands of the Caribbean. This was the first confirmed case on this continent. Recently, it has been detected in Florida. It is increasing its territory of concern.
Chikungunya Fever is caused from the Chikungunya Virus. It is rarely fatal, although the symptoms can be severe and temporarily debilitating. Usually within 3-7 days after the initial mosquito bite, symptoms rise to the surface. These symptom will likely include:

Fever (often upwards of 102 degrees)

Joint pain and swelling

Headache

Muscle pain
-
Rash -raised and spotted lesions
Doctors can verify the presence of the virus by the symptoms and blood tests. The usual course of treatment is rest, and plenty of hydration. Common pain relievers like Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen and Naproxen are often used to help alleviate joint pain and fever. check all household window and door screens for holes and tears
