Ladybird Beetles: Cute But Unwelcome

It is fall once again, and it is time for that pumpkin colored lady beetle--along with her hundred brothers and sisters--to start invading your happy home. By herself, this "turtle of the bug kingdom" is not so bad. She's even kind of cute. Perhaps not as cute and endearing as her beautiful red and black cousin the lovable ladybug, but she's okay. 1. They land in my drink. There is nothing worse than stepping out of the kitchen to get something, and returning to find a ladybird beetle fluttering in my orange juice. Argh!

2. They land on my food. Peanut butter toast and ladybird beetles do not go together, I don't care what anybody says.

3. They get into my bed. If you've ever rolled onto a beetle while sleeping, you know what I'm talking about.

4. Flybys. What is the deal with these bugs doing bombardier runs on my forehead. They are almost as awkward at flight as a stink bug.

5. They smell. Lady beetles excrete a nasty yellow liquid that smells.

6. They stain. That yellow liquid also stains the curtains in my living room.

7. They crunch. Have you ever dragged your fingernails down a chalkboard? I prefer this sound to the sound of a la dybird beetle getting crushed under my dress shoe on the way to work in the morning.

8. They are endless. After using the vacuum to suck up every single ladybird beetle in the house, and off my screens, a hundred come to take their place. It is like a plague!

9. They're gross. When they all get together, it is like looking at a boiling ulcer. That is the last thing I want to see when I'm sipping my coffee, and looking out my screen window at the backyard, first thing in the morning.

10. I can't see out my screen window! Stupid ladybugs cover my screens in fall, and I can't even enjoy the fall leaves in the backyard.
